La ceremonia dará comienzo a la temporada de premios, que se retrasó varios meses, y destacarán por su particular forma de ser realizados, tomando las medidas de seguridad correspondientes.
La edición número 78 de los Golden Globe Awards se llevará a cabo el próximo Domingo 28 de Febrero, y tendrá en su conducción por cuarta vez a la dupla de Amy Poehler y Tina Fey, quienes estarán en simultáneo en las ciudades de Nueva York y Los Ángeles, respectivamente, y con sus nominados en varias locaciones alrededor del mundo.
"Mank", "El Juicio de los 7 de Chicago" y "The Crown" son los más nominados, mientras que Jane Fonda recibirá el premio honorífico Cecil B. DeMille a la trayectoria cinematográfica y Norman Lear el premio Carol Burnett a la trayectoria en televisión. También destaca la nominación de tres directoras en la categoría de Mejor Dirección (Cine) por primera vez, llevando el número de mujeres nominadas en total en la historia de los Golden Globe Awards a apenas ocho, sumándose a la lista que componen Sofia Coppola, Jane Campion, Kathryn Bigelow, Barbara Streissand y Ava DuVernay. Streissand fue la única en ganar el galardón con "Yentl" en 1983, y DuVernay la última en ser nominada con "Selma" en 2014.
